Sweet Onions Strings
To top or not to top? On days when cooking feels relaxed we commonly cooked bento bowls, and in this one today we have topped it with our inexpensive sticky sweet onion. To put this together it took little to not much time at all. Below are four simple ingredients to top your next burger, breakfast eggs, salad bowl and as seen here, your bean bento.
Sticky Onion
•••••••••••••••••••••••Serves 4 ⓥ
Time 10 minutes
•••••••••••••••••••••••
1 onion. large
1/2 sugar, white
1/4 turmeric, powder
1 tsp olive oil
1. Begin by cutting the onion into halve then thinly slicing for pan-frying.
2. In a medium frying pan, coat the base with oil allowing it to be heated. Once heated pour into the pan the thinly sliced onions. Cook the onions on both sides stir every 3-4 minutes. Repeat this process until the onions begin to turn brown.
3. Once this is seen, sprinkle the sugar covering the onions, do not stir, allow the sugar to melt as it is then absorbed by the onions. Once the sugar granules have melted, stir.
4 At this stage, add the turmeric. Allow the spice to fully coat the onions, by stirring, cooking for another 3 minutes and serving.
