Old Mill Smoked Bean Bowl
This is a pretty fun pack nutritious bean bowl. They are protein-packed and made with just the right spices.
Below the ingredients will show what we were able to gather to make the dish as it can be eaten alone, as a side dish, mixed together with a mince of your choice and as we have done, topped in a bento bowl.

2 kidney beans (can)
2 clove garlic
1 medium onion (diced)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp chilli flake
1 Tbs smoked paprika
1 Tbs mixed dried herbs
2 Tbs butter
1 olive oil
1 Tbs sugar
4 cup water (lukewarm)
For garnish
Tomatoes, shallots, celery and pearl onions, all thin-slice
Method
In a large pot heat the water allowing it to stay warm to add to the bean later.Running the beans under water, begin to clean then add to a large pot for cooking. On medium heat, pour the beans and all ingredients into the pot, pouring over the heated water to begin the cooking process.
Allow the beans to cook until the liquid begins to thicken. Once this is observed, lower the heat than garnishing. Leaving to cook for five minutes the smoke beans is now ready to be served or stored.
Storage
Storing the beans should be done using a tightly sealed container and should be consumed within a week once stored in the fridge. They can be frozen and reheated resulting in the same freshness as the day you have cooked them. Freezing is recommended for up to 1-2 months.
